FAQ

What kind of issues can counselling help with?

Counselling can help with a very wide range of issues, including trauma, depression, anxiety, divorce, work problems, abuse, sexual problems, loneliness, problems with relationships, miscarriage, illness, also terminal, search for meaning of life, self-harming, domestic violence, low self-esteem, and more. Some people use counselling as a support in their self-development.

Is counselling for everyone?

I believe that sharing our thoughts and feelings, being heard and accepted, no matter who we are, and what we have said or done, is beneficial for everyone. However, it is important to understand that counselling also means hard work and it can be challenging. Sometimes weekly sessions alone may not be enough, and a client may benefit from extra support such as as AA meetings for those suffering from addiction issues.

How much does it cost?

I charge £45 for a 50 minute session. I expect you to attend weekly on the same day and time.

How long does counselling last for?

There are not set rules. Everything depends on your needs and goals. Sometimes a couple of sessions is enough, some people see their counsellor for years. I offer open ended counselling, so you don't have to commit to a certain number of sessions.

How do I know this is working?

I usually encourage clients to set a goal for the process and identify indicators to show  that things are moving in the right direction. We check this in regular reviews.

What happens during the first session?

Normally a session belongs to the client who can use it as they wish. You decide whether to talk or not, what to talk about, I will never force you to talk about issues you don't want to address nor do you have to answer my questions. However the first session is different; this is the time for us to assess each other and decide whether we can and want to work together. This is when I will explain how I work and what I can offer. I will ask  you questions to ensure I have enough knowledge and experience to support you. You can ask me any questions you want to make sure I am right fit for you
